GATE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Before you begin filling up the GATE 2020 application form, make sure you meet the requried educational qualification to take up GATE Exam. The educational elibility criteria for all streams are given below:

The candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies (IE,ICE,IETE,AeSI,IIChemE,IIM,IIE) and have enrolled on or before May 31, 2013 are also eligible toparticipate in GATE 2020. The candidates who have enrolled with these institutions after May 31, 2013 are not eligible, vide public notice (Advt No. P&AP/10(04)/2017). GATE 2020 Exam Pattern

GATE 2020 Exam will have 2 types of questions
1-Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
2-Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): All the question papers will contain 1 mark multiple choice questions & 2 mark multiple choice questions. Each multiple choice question will have four answers, the candidate will have to choose the right answer and select the correct answer from the choices.
Mulitple choice questions have negative marking: For each incorrect answer under the 1 mark MCQs, 1/3 mark will be reduced and for each incorrect answer under 2 mark MCQs 2/3 mark will be reduced.

Numerical Answer Type (NAT): Questions carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all the papers and sections. For these questions, the answer is a signed real number, which needs to be entered by the candidate using the virtual numeric keypad on the monitor (keyboard of the computer will be disabled). No choices will be shown for these type of questions. The answer can be a number such as 10 or -10 (an integer only). The answer may be in decimals as well, for example, 10.1 (one decimal) or 10.01 (two decimals) or -10.001 (three decimals). These questions will be mentioned with, up to which decimal places, the candidates need to present the answer
There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions



GATE 2020 Online Application Process

All candidates who wish to enroll for GATE 2020 Examination must apply or register online at GATE online Applicaiton Processing System (GOAPS)- GOAPS: http://appsgate.iitd.ac.in

GOAPS has made it simple with a user friendly interface facilitating all candidates to easily apply online from anywhere. The online appilcation processing system is also linked to payment gateway to enable online payments through netbanking, debit cards & credit cards.

The online Application process is as follows:
Step 1: Apply for the examination.
Step 2: Upload photograph, signature and other documents like qualifying degree certificate/ Step 3: Pay the application fee through any of the electronic payment modes
Step 4: Check the Status of the application form: Received, Under scrutiny, Accepted, Defect status,
Step 5: Download Admit Card
Step 6: View his/her answers, marks and GATE score
Step 7: Download GATE scorecard



GATE 2020 Documents

Data Requirement for Filling the Application Form

1: Personal information (name, date of birth, personal mobile number, parents' name, parents' mobile number, etc.). Please note that the name of the candidate in the application form must exactly be the same as that in the qualifying degree certificate or the certificate issued by the Head of the Department/Institute in which the candidate is pursuing his/her study. GATE 2020 scorecard will be issued as per the name entered in the application form. Prefix/title such as Mr/Shri/Dr/Mrs/Smt, etc. should NOT be used before name.

13: Details of the valid Identity Document (ID)(The same ID, in original, should be carried to the examination hall)

GATE 2020 Admit Card

GATE 2020 admit card will be avilable online on the GATE official website (GOAPS Website) from 3rd Jan 2019 onwards.

All candidates must download the admit card from the GATE website, take a printout and bring the admin card print out to the examination along with the original identify proof with photo (provided at the time of filling the online gate 2020 application).
