What is SSP Scholarship?

The State Scholarship Portal (SSP) is a welcome initiative taken by the Government of Karnataka to provide financial assistance to Pre-matric and Post-matric students. Every year Department of Social Welfare, Department of Backward Classes Welfare, Department of Minorities Department, and Department of Scheduled Tribes Welfare disburse Pre-matric and Post-matric Scholarships.

 

SSP Scholarship Application Process Overview

To apply for the SSP Scholarship, follow these simple steps:

1.Registration (only once) for new users. If you have previously already applied for an SSP Scholarship, you can skip this step.

2.Submit your post-matric online application on the SSP Portal (ssp.karnataka.gov.in scholarship) before the e-authentication step.

3.Upload the required documents in the e-authentication Portal.

4.Visit your e-attestation officer with your original documents for attestation.

5.After e-attestation, your documents will appear in the Approved documents with e-attestation ids.

6. Use the SSP Login Link to Log in to the SSP Portal, enter your e-authentication ids, and complete the SSP Scholarship application submission process.

All 1st-year students must wait until the universities complete the admission process before applying for SSP Scholarship. The Karnataka Government has announced an extension of the SSP Last Date of  for students whose admission data has not yet been shared with the SSP cell.

To complete your SSP Scholarship Application process, ensure that you have the following documents.

1. Aadhaar Number & Name as in Aadhaar of the applicant or enrollment ID.

3. Caste and Income Certificate RD numbers.

4. PUC Registration number (1st year students studying graduation courses)/ SATS ID

SSP Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the SSP Scholarship, students need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

1) Karnataka Students Studying Outside the State.
2) Students Who Have Completed SSLC/10th Standard Before 2004.
3) Karnataka Students Who Have Passed Their 10th/12th in Other State Board and Studying PU/Graduation/any Other Courses in Karnataka.
4) Students Who did 10th/12th From ICSE.
5) Students Who did 10th/12th From National Open School.

 

SSP Scholarship Amount

The SSP Scholarship Amount is provided by various departments to cater to specific student groups. The distribution of scholarships is as follows:

Social Welfare Department: Offers Pre-metric and post-matric scholarships for SC students.

Tribal Welfare Department: Provides scholarships for ST students.

 Minorities Welfare Department: Provides scholarships for minority students.

Backward classes Welfare department: Provides scholarships to OBC students.

 

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must fulfill certain conditions determined by each department.

 

Social welfare department Scholarship Amount

The social welfare department provides Pre-matric Scholarships and post-matric Scholarships for SC students only.

Fee Reimbursement:

One of the significant benefits of the SSP Scholarship is Fee reimbursement. The reimbursement process works as below.

  • The Government of India will reimburse 50% of the fees
  • The Government of Karnataka will reimburse the remaining 50%.

Through this arrangement, the government ensures that 100% of your fees are covered, supporting your educational expenses.

Minorities Welfare Department Scholarship Amount

Minorities Welfare Department provides Pre-matric Scholarship, Post-matric Scholarship, and Merit Cum Means Scholarship for students of minority community only.

Fee Reimbursement:

The Government will reimburse 100% of your fees. That is to say, the Government of India will reimburse 50% of the fees, and the Government of Karnataka will reimburse the remaining 50%.

Eligibility

1.Candidate must be from Minority caste.

2.Annual Income of parents must be less than 2 Lakhs.

Merit-cum means scheme

Fee Reimbursement :

The Government will reimburse 100% of your fees. That is to say, the Government of India will reimburse 50% of the fees, and the Government of Karnataka will reimburse the remaining 50%.

The Government of Karnataka also provides a study kit to Technical or Medical students selected under Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship studying in the 1st year of their professional courses. If sanctioned, Rs 10,000 will be transferred to the minority student's bank account directly through DBT.

Eligibility

1.Candidate must score 50% marks in previous years final examination to avail this Scholarship.

2.Candidates must not have any backlog.

3.Annual Income of parents must be less than 2.5 lakhs.

Pay your fees and upload your fee receipt to avail of the Scholarship. Also, upload other required documents.

Important note: As per the recent update, you must mandatorily apply for a scholarship in NSP before applying for a scholarship in SSP. This condition is applicable only to Minority students.

Backward Classes Welfare Department Scholarship Amount

Backward Classes Welfare department provides Pre-matric Scholarship, Post-matric Scholarship and Vidyasiri Scheme for backward class students only.

Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Backward class

The Backward Classes Welfare department grants Post-Matric Scholarships per month for post-matric students for ten months.

Rates of Post-Matric Scholarship are as follows

Eligibility

1.Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka and belong to caste included in backward classes list (CAT-1, Other OBC-2A, 3A, 3B) specified by Government.

2.Students are pursuing post-matric courses in government/ local body/ Aided institution/recognised unaided private institutions affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka.

3.Annual Income of parents must be less than 2.5 lakhs for CAT-1, and parents' annual income must be less than 1 lakh for CAT-2A, 3A, 3B, and other OBC.

4.Students admitted to government hostels/ residential Colleges are not eligible for post-matric Scholarships.

5.Must pass with minimum marks of 40% and 50% for fresh and renewal, respectively, in the previous year's annual examination for CAT-1. In addition, they must pass with minimum marks of 50% and 60% for fresh and renewal, respectively, during the last year's annual examination for CAT-2A, 3A, and 3B.

6.Only two male family members are eligible for the scheme—no restriction for girls.


 

Vidyasiri Scheme

Under this scheme, the department credits a monthly stipend of Rs 1500 per month for ten months totalling Rs 15000, to the student's bank account during the study period.

Eligibility

1.Students who have not got admission to any departmental/ government-funded student hostel studying post-matric courses.

2.Annual Income of parents must be less than 2.5 lakhs for CAT-1, and parents' annual income must be less than 1 lakh for CAT-2A, 3A, 3B, and other OBC.

3.Students must be in rural areas and at least 5 km away from the College, or the student's residence is different from the city where he/ she is attending college.

4.Must pass with minimum marks of 40% and 50% for fresh and renewal, respectively, in the previous year's annual examination for CAT-1. In addition, they must pass with minimum marks of 50% and 60% for fresh and renewal, respectively, during the last year's annual examination for CAT-2A, 3A, and 3B.

5.Only two male family members are eligible for the scheme—no restriction for girls.

6.Attendance of students must be at least 75%.

 

Hostel Fee

Private post-matric backward classes hostels: Students can get admission to private post-matric backward classes hostels under this scheme. And The Government will pay each student a meal cost of Rs 1100 for ten months.

Post-Matric Hostels: Under this scheme, students can get admission to Post-Matric Hostels. Food is provided to students for ten months at Rs 1600 per month. And it also offers free accommodation.

Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board Scholarship Amount

The Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board (KSBDB) provides post-matric scholarships to Brahmin students under the Saandeepani Shishya Vethana Scheme.

Under this scheme, it offers financial assistance to Brahmin students to pursue their post-matric courses. The financial aid covers tuition fees, textbooks, electronic equipment for students, hostel accommodation, and transportation.

The Government will reimburse 100% of your fees. That is to say, the Government of India will reimburse 50% of the fees, and the Government of Karnataka will reimburse the remaining 50%.

 

Eligibility:

1.Must belong to the Brahmin Community.

2.Annual Income of parents must be less than eight lakhs.

Department of Technical Education Scholarship Amount

The Technical Education Department offers scholarships to SC/ ST students with annual family incomes between 2.5 lakhs and ten lakhs. It also provides scholarships to the defence personnel.

The Government will reimburse 100% of your fees. That is to say, the Government of India will reimburse 50% of the fees, and the Government of Karnataka will reimburse the remaining 50%.

 

Eligibility:

1.Must belong to the SC/ ST Community.

2.Annual Income of the family must be more than 2.5 lakhs but less than ten lakhs.

 

Defence Scholarship

Fee Reimbursement

The Government will reimburse 100% of your fees. That is to say, the Government of India will reimburse 50% of the fees, and the Government of Karnataka will reimburse the remaining 50%.

 

Eligibility:

1.Must belong to the SC/ ST Community.

2.Parents must be working in the Indian Defence wing (Army, Airforce, Navy)

3.Student's parent must be a serving officer/ staff as Non-Commissioned Officer/ Junior Commission Officer and other below ranks.

How to Apply for SSP Scholarship?

If you are applying for a Scholarship for the first time, firstly, you must create your account in SSP Portal and then apply for the Scholarship. However, if you already applied for the Scholarship in the previous year, you can skip the account creation step and directly apply for SSP Scholarship.

Below are the steps to create an account in SSP Portal

1.Go to the SSP Portal using https://ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/.

2.If you are applying for Fresh Scholarship, click on "Create Account". This is a one-time process in SSP Scholarship.

3. You will reach the below screen. Click Yes if you have Aadhar in your name.

4. Once you click Yes, You will see the below screen. Here, enter your Aadhar number, your name as per Aadhar, select gender, solve the maths question in the respective fields. Then select the checkbox to give your consent to use Aadhaar. Click on Proceed at the bottom of the page.

5. After you submit your student Aadhaar details, the SSP Portal will display the below details of your family. You must select the relationship with the family member from the dropdown shown against each family member. Now, click on Proceed.

6. In the below screen, enter your email id and mobile number. Click on Submit. Once you receive the OTP on your mobile, enter the OTP in the OTP received field. If you did not receive the OTP, click on Resend OTP. Now, click on Submit.

7. Enter the password in New Password. Ensure that the password entered in New password matches with one in Confirm Password field. Click on Submit

After you create your account in SSP, follow the below steps to apply for SSP Scholarship.

Below are the steps to apply for SSP Scholarship Online. Use the SSP Scholarship post-matric online application to apply as shown here:

1. Go to the official SSP Portal https://ssp.postmatric.karnataka.gov.in/2324_sa/signin.aspx

3. The below screen will appear. Enter your SSP user ID in User ID field, password,Captcha. Click on Student Login.

4. Click on the "Apply for Post-Matric Scholarship" link on the Student Account Homepage.

5. You will see the below instructions to SSP applicants. You must read all the 10 instructions and click on OK.

6. You will see the below screen. Click on Step 1 " Apply" tab.

7. Select the appropriate Board under which you passe your 10th standard. And, also enter SSLC registration number . Click on "Get Data".

8. The below screen will be displayed. If you find that the displayed information is correct, click on Save & Proceed.

9.Enter Caste and Income Details

There are 2 scenarios here.

Scenario 1:If your caste and income certificate details are available in KUTUMBA, then the SSP portal will autopopulate the caste and income certificate details for you to confirm.

Scenario 2:If your caste and income certificate details are not available in KUTUMBA, then in the below screen

  • you must select the option Yes for "Do you have Caste and Income Certificates".
  • Select your religion from the dropdown
  • Under Caste Certificate Number, enter the 15 digit caste certificate number.
  • Under Income Certificate, enter the 15 digit income certificate number.

Click on Check.

After clicking the Check button,the portal will auto populate the caste details.

Scenario 3: If you do not have Caste and Income Certificate then

  • click on No for the option "Do you have Caste and Income Certificate"
  • Select your religion from the dropdown.
  • Select Category from the dropdown.
  • Click on Save and Proceed.

10.Click on "Check NPCI" to check your Aadhaar seeding status.

11. If a student is differently abled, Select Yes for Person with Disabilities. Enter the UDID card number and click on "Get Data":

12. If the personal details are available in KUTUMBA, the portal will autopopulate the personal details. Otherwise, the below screen will display wherein you need to enter the details in the respective fields.

Scenario 1: If you are a student studying in a University outside Karnataka. Then click No. Select the University and course type. Enter the University or Board Registration Number and click on Get Data.

14. Once you click on Get Data, the below screen will display all the academic details such as University name, Student name, Admission year, College name, Course Name. If the academic details displayed below are correct, click on Yes.

If the details displayed is not correct, then you must approach the college/ university and get the details corrected in UUCMS/ UNIDATA.

All the academic details will be auto-populated and displayed. Check if the displayed details are correct.

15. Previous Year Marks Details: Enter your previous year marks/ CGPA

16.e-Attestation: E-Attestation of the below courses should be entered by students.

17.Hosteller/ Dayscholar Details: If the hostel details of the student are already available in SHP/ SSP HMIS, then the portal will autopopulate the details.

18.Preview and Final Submit

In the final step, the Aadhar status message will pop up.It will display whether the Aadhar seeded status is Active 'A' or Inactive 'I'.

After the final submit , you can take a printout of the acknowledgement for future reference.

 

 

How to get e-attestation on documents for SSP Scholarship?

Below are the steps

1.Go to the e-attestation Portal https://eattestation.ssp.karnataka.gov.in/

2.Enter your Aadhaar ID, Name as per Aadhaar and captcha. Click on the Aadhaar Consent checkbox and click on verify.

3. Thee-attestation Portal will direct you to the Student Profile Page. Complete your Student profile details such as University Name, College Name, Course, etc.

4. In student upload, select the document type and upload the documents. The Portal will display all the documents under Pending documents.

5.Click on the Aadhaar Consent Form, download, and fill the form.

6.Visit the e-attestation officer along with original documents and Aadhaar consent form to get your documents attested.

7.Once the e-attestation officer approves, the e-attested documents will reflect under Approved Documents. In addition, you will find the e-attestation ID displayed next to the document.

3.In this screen, enter your student SATS ID and select the financial year.

Students can do SSP Scholarship Renewal 2023-24 logging into the SSP Portal Student login, clicking on the renewal form to modify their previous SSP Application details, and submitting the form.

10.What is the Scholarship amount for SSP?

The Government of India and the Karnataka Government together reimburse 100% of your college fees subject to applicable conditions. You can avail of the fee reimbursement by uploading your college fee receipt and other documents required under each department in the SSP Portal. 11.How to check my SSP Scholarship Status?

Go to the SSP Scholarship status link and enter your student SATS ID and select the financial year. Then, click on search to know the status.

 

12. What is Student SATS ID?

As per VTU's latest circular, the Resume ID provided by the College will serve as a provisional student ID for applying for the Scholarship in State Scholarship Portal (SSP).

 

13. Can I use my parent's Aadhaar number to get my document attested?

No. You must use only your Aadhaar to get your documents attested.

 

14.Do I need to meet the e-attestation officer for e-attestation?

Yes, you need to meet the person who has received your request for an e-attestation for one-time verification of the document. Ensure that you carry original copies of the documents uploaded in the e-attestation Portal and the Aadhaar Consent form with you when you meet the officer.

16.I am a resident of Karnataka but presently studying in another state. What are the documents that I can get e-attested?

You cannot get any of the documents e-attested. You must bring your documents physically attested as per the laws of that state.

 

17.Are there any specifications to upload a file for e-attestation?

You must upload only pdf files with the maximum file size of 2MB per pdf file.

 

18.How will I know if my document is approved or rejected?

If your document is e-attested successfully, it will reflect in the Approved Documents tab. And if they reject your document, it will appear in Rejected Documents tab and the reason for rejection.

 

19.If they reject my document, can I apply again?

Yes. You can apply again with the correct document.

 

20.What is the last date to apply for SSP Scholarship?

SSP Scholarship 2024 last date is 15th Apr 2024 or 31st May 2024 for different departments.

 

21.When will my Scholarship amount be sanctioned?

The Government will sanction the scholarship amount only after the Universities provide Bonafide and Exam Results to SSP.

22. Where can I find the list of students for whom scholarship is paid?

You can see the list of students for whom scholarship is paid for the year 2019-20 and 2018-19 district-wise via student status report.

 

23. Can I edit the application form after submitting it online?

No, you will not be able to edit the application form after submitting your application online on SSP Portal.

 

24. Can I edit the student details on SSP portal?

Yes, there is a option to edit student details once you login to the portal through student account. Click on Edit menu under student account to edit your certificate details and bank details.

 

25. Do I need to create an account every year to apply for Post-Matric Scholarship?

Student Account creation is a one time process so you need not create an student account for 2023-24 if you have already applied in 2022-23. However, keep in mind that you need to apply again in 2023-24 with the same credentials.

 

26. Where is the contact details of e-attestation officers given?

You can find the contact details of the e-attestation officers under "Verifier Contact" menu. You must use this option to get your document e-attested immediately.
