Visvesvaraya Technological University notifies academic eligibility for admission to VTU Postgraduate Programmes MBA/MCA/M.Tech./M.Arch.
Below is VTU Eligibility criteria
1.Academic Eligibility for seeking admission to MBA/MCA/M.Tech/ M.Arch as per KEA Information Brochure 2020.
2.Course Wise Eligibility to VTU M.Tech. programs (Refer to this office Circular: VTU/Aca/1-9/2020- 21/4264 dated: 5-12-2020.
3.Entry level qualifications acquired through Distance Education mode are not considered for admission to VTU M.Tech. programs.
4.The academic eligibility is to be determined by considering all the subjects reflected in the marks cards of qualifying examination i.e. including audit courses and additional subject which are not considered for award of degree.
5.The Conversion formula for conversion of CGPA into percentage is as below:
Percentage of Marks Secured, P = [CGPA earned -0.75) x 10
6.Undergraduate programs obtained from The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, New Delhi are not considered for admission to VTU M.Tech. programs (E.C. Res. No. 2.2.3 dated 10-6-2014).
7.The academic eligibility of the candidate being admitted shall be verified correctly.
8.Due verification has to be made about the authenticity of the University from which the candidate has obtained his/her qualifying degree.
9.The relaxation in minimum percentage is extended only to Karnataka candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Cat-1. This rule is also applicable to the candidates seeking admission under the management quota also.
10.Admission of In-Service Candidates should be sent along with 'No Objection Certificate' from the employer.
11. Non-employed candidates have to submit an undertaking as per the enclosed format to the Principal of the college and a copy of the same shall be forwarded to the University.
The violation, if any, in this regard will be seriously viewed and the Principal of the concerned college will be held responsible.

Before admitting candidates to Govt. & Mgmt. Quota Seat for PG courses, the following shall be confirmed:
1. The academic eligibility of the candidate being admitted shall be verified correctly.
2. Due verification has to be made about the authenticity of the University from which the candidate has obtained his/her qualifying degree.
3. The relaxation in minimum percentage is extended only to Karnataka candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Cat-I. This rule is also applicable to the candidates seeking admission under the management quota also.
1) MBA/MCA/MCA Lateral Entry
MBA: Admission to MBA course shall be open for the candidates who have passed the Bachelor degree with not less than fifty percent i.e. integer 50% (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted) of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to **SC/ST and Category I, the aggregate percent of marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall not be less than forty-five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding •off aggregate percent is not permitted).
MBA-Infrastructure Management: Admission to MBA-Infrastructure Management course shall be open for the candidates who have passed the Bachelor degree in Engineering/Architecture with not less than fifty percent i.e. integer 50% (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted) of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to **SC/ST and Category I, the aggregate percent of marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall not be less than forty-five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding -off of aggregate percent is not permitted).
MCA: Admission to MCA course shall be open for the candidates who have passed Bachelor degree with not less than fifty percent i.e. integer 50% (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted) of marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Programming or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional or electives at Degree Level. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to **SC/ST and Category I, the aggregate percent of marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall not be less than forty-five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted).
Provided further that a candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the first provision the Pre•University Course with 50% of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission. However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST and Cat•I, forty-five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding-off aggregate percent is not permitted) of marks in that subject shall be Admission.
MCA Lateral Entry: A candidate who has passed recognized Bachelor's Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination in BCA, B.Sc (I.T. I Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and obtained an aggregate minimum of integer 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q.E. in case of SC, ST and Category•I of Karnataka candidates) However in the case of candidates from belonging to SCI STand Cat•I, forty-five percent i.e. integer 45%
2) M.Tech. :
1. The Course-wise M.Tech. academic eligibility is revised and enclosed as per Annx•I.
2. Admission of GATE qualified candidates: Candidates qualified in Engineering & Technology discipline are eligible to seek admission to VTU M.Tech. courses (under both Govt. and Management quota) and candidates qualified in Science discipline are not eligible to seek admission to VTU M.Tech. courses (under both Govt. and Management quota).
3. Entry-level qualifications acquired through Distance Education mode are not considered for admission to M.Tech.
4. Candidates who passed the qualifying examination from Aeronautical Society of India and Associate Membership Examination of Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication(AMIET) not permitted to seek admission to M.Tech.
M.Tech.:
a) For admission to Full Time: Admission to M.Tech. the course shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination as specified in Annex I with not less than 50% of the marks in aggregate of all the semesters I years of the degree examination (cumulative sum of secured marks of all the semesters I years divided by the sum of maximum marks). However, in the case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to **SC/ST/Cat•1, marks shall not be less than 45%.
b) For admission to Part-Time: In addition to the qualification prescribed above (a), the candidate must have worked for not less than three years (after qualifying examination, experience is considered up to the date of notification of KEA inviting applications for admission to 2017•18) in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.
Please Note for all PG Admissions:
1. The academic eligibility is to be determined by considering all the subjects reflected in the marks cards of qualifying examination i.e. including audit courses and subject which are not considered for award of the degree
2. Rounding of total aggregate percentage is not permitted. i.e. Total aggregate percentage is 49.98, it cannot be treated as 50%.
IF ABOVE SPECIFIED RULES ARE VIOLATED THEN SUCH ADMISSIONS WILL NOT BE APPROVED BY THE UNIVERSITY IRRESPECTIVE OF CATEGORY OF ADMISSION I.E GOVT AND MANAGEMENT.
Hence, you are hereby informed to note the above and take due care while admitting candidates to the respective courses. Any violation of the above rule shall not be approved by the University. The contents of this Notification shall be brought to the notice of all the concerned.
