VTU To Use CCTVs to Monitor Students During Exams

By the directions of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, all the Principals are requested to install the CCTV Cameras in all the examination halls/ rooms where the examinations are held, preferably with online viewing facility by the competent authorities to monitor the effective conduction of the VTU examinations.

The process of installation of CCTV Cameras shall be completed on or before 28th November 2018 and a report on the completion of installation shall be submitted to the Registrar on or before 30th November 2018.

The recorded video footages shall be preserved for a minimum period of six months. The Principal of the college/institute shall be Chief Superintendent throughout the duration of VTU examinations. Under unavoidable circumstance no Principal shall designate their responsibility of Chief Superintendent to others without the permission of Registrar (Evaluation), VTU- Belagavi.

As per official VTU circular dated 25th May 2019 VTU instructs colleges to install more CCTVs in June July 2019 Examinations. The VTU June July 2019 examinations are to be conducted under strict CCTV surveillance. Also the footage of the exam is to be maintained for atleast six months and must be available as and when instructed by the university. VTU has taken these measures in the backdrop of conducting the examinations in a fair manner and to ensure that unfair practices do not take place.

 

Below are the instructions provided to colleges

1. To install CCTV Cameras in examination halls

2. The Principals of colleges shall be the Chief Superintendent of examinations throughout the duration of VTU Examinations,

3. QPDS room must be adjacent to the Principal Chamber with single entry point and must be under CCTV Surveillance.

4. Every Examination block should be under CCTV Surveillance. The footage of the same shall be maintained for at least six months, without fail.

5. The footage of CCTV surveillance must be made available as and when instructed by the University.

6. Preserve the previous examination footage in the college.

7. The Principals must execute the duties of chief superintendent.

8. In case of emergencies, citing proper reasons, the Principals shall make alternative arrangements with the prior approval of the undersigned.

9. Making alternative arrangements during the period when the principals arc on duty at the college is not permitted.
