VTU Induction Programme For BE/ BTech 2021 - 22

VTU has released an announcement regarding the Student Induction Programme for the academic year 2021-22. The VTU Induction Programme will be held in blended mode. A total of 105 hours is scheduled for the induction programme. The University has also enclosed guidelines for the conduct of the induction programme. Also, called Deeksharambh, will have Initial Phase and Regular Phase.

VTU Induction programme for newly admitted students is reduced from 21 days to 1 week due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The Induction will be conducted online up to 12th May 2021 during the student's induction program second session.

Given the emerging situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic in India, 21 days of continuous students Induction Programmes for 1st-semester students has been reduced to one week by the AICTE. The Colleges to cover the following topics in ONLINE mode during the Students' Induction programme-

VTU Induction programme 2020-21

The Students Induction Programme as mandated by AICTE shall be conducted for 21 days without a break at the beginning of the first semester of the undergraduate programmes from the academic year 2020-21 onwards.

All the colleges under VTU shall abide by the University Student's Induction Programme Guidelines (copy enclosed) in conducting the same. Further, they may also refer to the AICTE guidelines (copy enclosed) for the same.

Induction Programme for BE/ BTech students 2019-20

VTU Induction Programme for BE/ BTech

Colleges to conduct an "Induction Programme" for the students admitted to B.E/ B.Tech. Programmes from the academic year 2019-20. The "Induction Programme" shall be conducted in two phases as under :

1st Phase: 11 days during the beginning of the first semester

2nd phase: 10 days during the beginning of the second semester.

 

General guidelines for conducting the Induction Programmes

It has observed by the University that during the first phase, many colleges have not conducted the session on VTU Regulations.

Hence, it is once again informed to educate the students VTU Regulations governing the Bachelor's Degree, emphasising the following points in both the Phases of the induction programme.

• Academic terminology used (Definitions of keywords of Regulations).
• Choice Based Education(CBE) and Outcome-Based Education(OBE).
• The credit system, SGPA, CGPA, Class recognition concerning CGPA, Grade Card, Ranks
• Attendance Requirements (18OB 9.1 to 9.4)
• Assessment methods/Learning Assessments:(18OB 8.1 to 8.13)

(i)Continuous Internal Evaluations(CIE)- Tests and other methods of assessments like quiz, assignment, group discussions, seminar, course­ project, etc.

(ii)Semester End Evaluation(SEE)/University Examinations.

(iii)Passing Standards: Minimum passing standards for CIE and SEE.

• Vertical Progression: Conditions for movement to higher semesters (10.1 to 10.3).
• Maximum duration(18OB 1.4)
• Conditions for the award of degree and Rank(18OB11.1 and 11.2).
• Conditions for the award of the degree of B.E./ B.Tech.(Honours) (18OB11.1 and 11.2)
• Earning the Activity points,

they shall submit a compliance report to the office of the undersigned.

Exposure to branch/ department laboratories, workshops and other facilities, deferent method of study, etc.

 

Physical Activity

Exercise or Yoga, Games and sports, Gardening etc., where labour yields fruits from nature.

 

Creative Arts (Skill related)

Visual arts or performing arts like painting, sculpture, pottery, music, dance etc., would assist creative expression, develop a sense of aesthetics and enhance creativity which would, hopefully, flow into engineering design later.

 

Universal Human Values

Help students to stand up to peer pressure, take decisions with courage, be aware of relationships with colleagues and supporting staff in the hostel and department, be sensitive to others, etc.

 

Proficiency Modules

It would help students to overcome lacunas in English skills, computer familiarity, etc.

 

Lectures by Eminent People

It would give the students exposure to people who are socially active or in public life.

Reading, writing and possibly debating, enacting a play etc. Proficiency Modules Would help students to overcome lacunas in English skills, computer familiarity.

 

Lectures by Eminent People

It would give the students exposure to people who are socially active or in public life.

 

Visits to Local Area like the landmarks of the city/ hospital/orphanage etc.

Would familiarise the students with the area as well as expose them to the Under-Privileged.

The Induction Programme is to be conducted for the students admitted to B.E./B.Tech during the academic year 2019-20. Regarding the implementation of AICTE mandatory three-week Induction Programme for the students admitted to B.E./B.Tech. programmes during the academic year 2019-20, the Induction Programme shall be conducted in two phases instead of conducting the same continuously for three weeks as under:

1st Phase: 11 days during the beginning of the first semester

2nd Phase: 10 days during the beginning of the second semester

The constituent college, affiliated and autonomous engineering colleges shall abide by the University Induction Programme guidelines in conducting the same. The enclosed AICTE guidelines may also be referred to while conducting a phase-wise Induction Programme.
